The Fine Art of Truth or Dare

Plot: Ella Marino is perfectly fine with being one of the Invisibles along with her two best friends, Sadie and Frankie, at the Willing School. She's an art major and is forever in love with Edward Willing, an unappreciated 19th century artist, that she is determined to find more about. Her French tutor, Alex Bainbridge just so happens to be the most popular guy at Willing and is also her biggest crush. But their sessions keep getting more interesting than ever. Can Ella and Alex be happy together while keeping their relationship a secret?

My Thoughts: This book started off very slow. And I mean VERY slow. I found myself forcing myself to keep reading and hoped there would be a light at the end of the tunnel. The light, however, never really came. Sure there were a few fun chapters, but it didn't make up for the rest of the book. The characters were believable, but everything they did just drove me insane. Every time I finished a chapter I thought about putting it down and walking away, but I had to finish what I started. Possibly, the only good thing about this book was Frankie. I love when there are gay characters in books, especially when the crack jokes throughout the story. Overall this is not a book I would recommend, but if you want to give it a shot and see if you feel differently, go ahead.

My Life Next Door

Plot: Samantha Reed is the daughter of a senator and has watched the Garrets, the loud family next door, her whole life. While her mother hates them, Samantha thinks they're the perfect family. The Garrets begin to bring Samantha in as one of their own, while she keeps their relationship a secret from her mother. But a tragic event occurs that affects both families and leaves Samantha faced with an impossible decision.

My Thoughts: I can't even begin to describe my thoughts about this book. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick is officially my favorite book I have ever read. The characters were refreshingly mature and it was easy to connect with them and their feelings. All of them. It was amazing. One of the things I loved most about this book was that one of the conflicts was never resolved. But it worked! It was so realistic, I couldn't believe what I had in my hands. I found myself laughing out loud at Jase's siblings and wishing that they were my brothers and sisters. I probably could have finished this book in a day, but refused to let myself to it because I didn't want it to end. I stayed up till three in the morning at one point, because I couldn't stop myself from reading. If you haven't gotten your hands on this gem, please run out right now and buy yourself a copy, I promise you won't regret it.

Catching Jordan

Plot: Jordan Woods is the star quarter back of her high school. She's surrounded by hot jocks all day, but that doesn't matter to her. All she wants is an athletic scholarship to her dream college. Then Ty Green shows up and wants her place as starting quarter back. And for the first time, Jordan finds herself becoming distracted from the very thing that means the most to her. Football.

My Thoughts: When I heard about this book, I was very excited and began counting down the days till its release. Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally shows true girl power as Jordan Woods tried to live up to her father as quarter back. From the first page, I was hooked. I found myself obsessed with this great story of friendship and competition. Miranda uses amazing descriptions and takes you into the mind of Jordan, fighting her way to the top. If you're a football fan , like me, then you'll absolutely love this novel. Miranda Kenneally has created a masterpiece.

Breathe (Sea Breeze #1)

Plot: Sadie's mom is completely carefree...and eight months pregnant. In order to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, Sadie takes over her mom's job for the summer, working for Jax Stone, the world famous teen rocker. She might be excited if she was normal. But, everything about Sadie fascinates Jax and by the end of the summer, he learns he cant live without her.

My Thoughts: If you've read my other reviews, then you know that I'm obsessed with unattainable love stories. Breathe by Abbi Glines was no exception. As soon as I heard what it was about, I knew I had to read it. However, it was impossible to read this book and not connect it to Twilight. Of course there weren't any werewolves or vampires, but there were similarities that jumped out at you and just screamed "TWILIGHT!". The love triangle, disapproving family, and the protection Jax had over Sadie was impossible to not relate to Stephenie Meyers hit. I still enjoyed this book though, because if you read as if Twilight doesn't exist, its a great story about two teenagers having a summer fling that you could only dream of. So if you're able to look past the Twilight similarities, this is the perfect summer read for anyone.
