Rock and a Hard Place

Plot: Libby's father left her a long time ago to live with her crazy drug addict aunt, and she's still awaiting his return. Then, the biggest band on the planet's lead singer, Peter Jamieson, steps off his tour bus and finds the girl of his dreams...Libby. She's never heard of him or his band, but falls in love him anyways. But, after one of his brothers intrudes on their relationship, everything begins to fall apart.

My Thoughts: Rock and a Hard Place by Angie Stanton is easily one of my favorite books to date. I started reading this book at around 9am in the car during one of me, my mom and sisters' holiday shopping trips. I pulled out my Kindle every chance I got and continued reading this incredible story. By the time we got home I was more than three quarters of the way finished, and it didn't take me long to turn the last page. Libby and Peter are unforgettable characters that make you wish you had a love like theirs. Even through the rough times, they still held on to each other, no matter how much space was in between them. This novel was very enjoyable and pulls on your heartstrings. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a rock star love.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

Plot: Hadley hasn't seen her father for over a year, since he left her mother for another woman. The last thing on her list is to be in his wedding, that her mother is forcing her to attend. After missing her flight to London by four minutes, Hadley meets a handsome British Yale student, Oliver, in the airports waiting area, who is coincidentally sitting in her row. After a long overnight flight sitting next to Oliver, they are unable to hold onto each other in the chaotic airport. But fate has plans for these two and makes Hadley realize that four minutes can change a lot.

My Thoughts: The title itself, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, had me hooked from the beginning. Then as I began to read, Jennifer E. Smith pulled me in for a long flight. On the flight, readers are treated to an amazing story based off fate and chances, a love story that will make you want to cuddle up with a pillow and cry, because you wish you had one just like it, oh and don't forget the airline peanuts. Even after the plane landed, the amazing story kept going where Jennifer tied up some loose ends. I had tears in my eyes near the end because of how beautiful and heart wrenching this story was. If you have any doubts on love at first sight this is the book that will change your mind.

Arise

Plot: Amelia just can't seem to cut a break. Her and her living boyfriend, Joshua, can barely kiss without her vanishing to an unknown location. And when they visit some of Joshua's Seer relatives in New Orleans, she can't escape the haunting question of her and Joshua's future. With netherworld demons lurking just around the corner, she needs to choose fast or have no choice at all.

My Thoughts: Not gonna lie. The second book in every series is always the one I like the least. Mainly because of the unspoken rule that authors have to separate the cute couple in some way. I'll admit, I love the cute exchanges of dialogue with the YA couples. I could honestly read a book with no plot but the story of a cute couple and give it 6/5 stars. So when I started reading Arise and realized it was following the same format as any other YA sequel I was disappointed. However, when Amelia and Joshua were separated, I fell in love with Gaby and Felix. And, as I read deeper into the pages I found it nearly impossible to stop turning them. The world Tara Hudson created in the first book was continued perfectly. There were tons of twists throughout the novel that had me eager to keep reading. If you like the first book in this series, I guarantee you'll love this one just as much, if not more.

Hereafter

Plot: Amelia is trapped wandering the plains of existence. She has no memory of her past or her death, and has no idea as to why she's stuck on Earth and hasn't moved on. But when she tries to save a boy from drowning, a moment of connection ultimately allows him to survive. As they grow closer, he helps her uncover the truth about her death and past.

My Thoughts: I'm a sucker for any book with a supernatural love story. So when I found this on Goodreads I was very excited. Hereafter by Tara Hudson was a great book. And I mean a great book. The descriptions of Amelia's dreams and emotions were perfect and allowed you to explore her mind. The characters, too, were well developed and very dynamic. Tara's writing was amazing, and it kept you rooting for them the whole time. I'm definitely putting this book on my "read again" list. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can recommend it to anyone that craves a good paranormal love story.

The Beginning of After

Plot: When a tragic car accident leaves Laurel Meisner without a brother or parents, she is forced to continue her life. Taking pity from her teachers, and peers is enough to drive her insane. Much like Laurel, David Kaufman, is suffering from the loss of his mother and the seemingly unavoidable death of his father who is in a deep coma. The only way for David to ease the pain is to pack up and leave and never look back. Their lives seem like an unstoppable world of madness until they realize the only way to move on is to lean on each other for support.

My Thoughts: The Beginning Of After by Jennifer Castle is a tough book to describe. I'm a big sucker for books that involve a girl leaning on a guy for support after a tragic event. However, this novel didn't live up to my high expectations. The characters themselves were well developed, but somewhat difficult to connect to. It took me a while to read this story, but I wasn't going to give up on it halfway through. When I started reading the story I though I was going to cry like I always do during sad novels, but that wasn't the case. I just couldn't get into the story. On a good note, the descriptions were beautiful. I could tell the story was well thought out, but it seemed a little rushed near the end. It has the potential to be a great book and I think someone will definitely enjoy this story. Give it a try and let me know what you thought.

Where She Went

Plot: Three years ago Mia lost her family. Three years ago Mia left her  boyfriend and moved to New York. Now, with Mia as New York's rising star and Adam as the paparazzi's favorite toy, they're living in two separate worlds. But for one night, they have the chance to catch up and reminisce about their past and open their minds to the future.

My Thoughts: Where She Went by Gayle Forman is a heart-wrenching sequel to the amazing novel If I Stay. Where She Went keeps you rooting for Mia and Adam from the moment they meet up after three years of being apart. Even though nothing can compare to the prequel, Gayle Forman has created another master piece. She uses words to describe an unforgettable love that never ends. I wish this series would keep going, because I've fallen in love with the characters, but it was a beautiful end. If you read If I Stay, and are having doubts about this sequel, take it from me, it's worth it.

If I Stay

Plot: When a tragic car accident places Mia Hall in a coma, she is left with the choice of life or death. But when life consists of enduring everyday activities without your family, death seems like the only option.

My Thoughts: If I Stay by Gayle Forman is a compelling page-turner that takes you through the mind of a teenage girl, Mia, who is caught between the worlds of life, without her family, and death. This novel is... indescribable. I literally sat at my computer for a few minutes thinking of ways to finish  that sentence. Indescribable. The story Ms. Forman takes us through is so powerful that I can't use words to describe how truly amazing it is. The writing hooks you in and makes it impossible to stop reading. I devoured this book in less than two days, and it's story is still stuck with me. The love Mia's friends have for her is admirable, and the love Mia has for her family is phenomenal. This book is one of the best I've ever read and I highly recommend it to anyone with a heart.
